JOB- TRAINING

Provide job search, interview skills, resume writing, and on-job training to support financial literacy education classes, credit score analysis and repair, and “Money Smart for Older Adults” workshops to increase knowledge and improve skills for employment opportunities.

FIRST-TIME HOME BUYERS PROGRAM AND TRAINING

To assist, counsel, guide and help low- and middle-income clients to qualify for housing as a first time home buyer and become part of the American dream and have access to state programs, tax breaks, and federally backed loans.

Community Development

Provide affordable housing for low-income, disadvantaged and homeless families, and homeless veterans.

Access to quality, affordable housing continues to be a major issue. Rents and home sale prices are increasing at a pace that is greater than the income levels of low- and moderate-income households. Despite the increased production of affordable rental homes and assistance for homebuyers, housing affordability results in financial crisis impacting displacement, poor health outcomes and homelessness.

HOUSING AND JOB TRAINING

Qualify first- time home buyers through training and counseling classes.

Buying a home for the first time can leave one with serious sticker shock. That’s especially true in California, which has some of the highest property prices in the country. But there is help in the California Housing Finance Agency, or CalHFA, which offers a comprehensive selection of homebuyer assistance programs, mostly geared toward first-time homebuyers with low or moderate incomes. You’re considered a first-time homebuyer in California if you haven’t owned and occupied a home in three years. Contact ‘The Greater Works House, Inc.’ for an overview of CalHFA programs that can help you purchase your first home.
